Yes, it’s true.
The song that so many people consider to be the best piece of Australian rock and roll music didn’t make the charts. Granted, we didn’t know much about Cold Chisel but how did this not make it to the national charts when it was released in 1978?
It reached number 4 in their home town of Adelaide and depending on which source of information you refer to, peaked somewhere between 41 and 52 nationally.
If you asked most people where Khe Sanh peaked on the national charts, many would say top ten, maybe even number one, such is its current esteem in Australian music.
But there you go … it didn’t even make the top 40!
