This was the first time that we had heard Rod Stewart as a solo artist, when he released a double-A side single with Maggie May and Reason To Believe. Before that, he and Ronnie Wood had some success with The Faces but this seemingly became the point of no turning back for Rod the solo artist.

It’s one of those songs that I remember from my childhood without realising its underlying message … as an adult, I can see that this was no “Wake Up Little Suzie”!

Great song. Great artist. One of a kind!
