Another one from the latter years of Elvis’ life, My Boy hardly made the Australian charts. It was originally a French song – “Parce que je t’aime, mon enfant” – and was recorded by actor Richard Harris in 1971. Sounding somewhat better than his attempt at Macarthur Park, Harris’ version reached number 4 in Australia in 1972. Elvis’s version was recorded a couple of years later and provides a richness in tone that is missing from the Harris version.
A great song, well performed.
