This song created a little tension here at Untypical HQ – the song titles that I chose had to relate to real places. There is no Ventura Highway, as such, but the Pacific Coast Highway – about which the song is supposed written (or at least inspired by) – runs from Santa Monica through Malibu and onto Ventura in the northwest. Therefore, because it is a great song and that Ventura is a real place, it gets a tick.
It’s just one of those songs that belongs in a countdown like this – true classic, West Coast early 70’s rock.
