John David Souther, known professionally as JD, only ever released three singles, with the other two failing to make the top 100 in his native US. One of his musically heroes growing up was Roy Orbison who gets a gentle nod with the title of this track being very similar to The Big O’s famous “Only The Lonely”

He is well known for the people he has lived with and worked with over the years, having dated Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks and collaborated with Glenn Frey, the Eagles and James Taylor. His most notable compositions include Best Of My Love, Heartache Tonight and New Kid In Town.

As a solo performer though, his only real claim to fame is this ripping song from late 1979 which found its way into the Australian top 40 in early 1980.
