Not many contemporary songs can claim to have lyrics that could be almost 2500 years old but this one does. Pretty much lifted directly from the book of Ecclesiastes – one of 24 books of the Hebrew Bible.

Singer / songwriter Pete Seeger wrote the music and adapted the lyrics in the late 50’s and included on an album in 1962.

The American folk rock group, The Byrds, which, at various times, featured Roger McGuinn, David Crosby and Gram Parsons, took the song to number one on the Billboard charts in 1965.

In Australia, the Byrds only charting hit was the cover version of Dylan’s Mr Tambourine Man, with Turn!
Turn! Turn! only making it to number 44.
