Yet another cover version of a great song – this time, the most well-known version had been released in 1966 by Dusty Springfield. One of three songs in this Countdown to have its genesis in an Italian song (“Io che non vivo (senza te)”), Elvis’ version of You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me only reached number 15, unlike Dusty’s which made it all the way to number 2. A great song which is carried off really well by Elvis – I just think I prefer Ms Springfield’s.
