There wasn’t much that this bloke couldn’t do … light opera, solid rock and roll, acting, comedy and, in this case, gentle vocals on a great song. This, in my mind, is his finest release, displaying how distinctive his voice was. One thing that puzzles me is its chart performance – entering the charts at number 40 in May 1980, sitting in that position for three weeks and then disappearing again. Not sure if any other song ever matched that. Not sure why this song didn’t go much, much higher in the charts.
