Bill, Bob, Paul, Barry, John, Susan and their mother, Barbara – the Cowsills – were an American family – and band – from Rhode Island. They had a few hits in Australia including this light, bubble-gum inspired track. It’s a song that was covered by the Young Talent Team on one their first albums – a major aspiration of most American bands, you’d expect.

But, arguably, their biggest claim to fame was the offer that they did refuse in the late 1960’s – they were offered the opportunity to star in a television series based on their lives as a family and a band. When they were told that their real mother wouldn’t be part of the show and instead would be played by Shirley Jones, they baulked. The TV show went ahead and became the Partridge Family.

I wonder whether they ever wonder “what if”?
