What a great Australian song this is – Ted Mulry, before he had his gang and went all glam rock!
Ted was a bulldozer driver for the NSW Government when he first arrived in Australia. With encouragement from his friends, he took some of the songs he had written to J. Albert and Son, the iconic Australia music publishing house. After hearing some of his demos, Ted was encouraged to record them himself and this was his first single release.
Like yesterday’s song, Lola, Julia entered the charts in 1970 but what a contrast between the two of them!
Well played, Ted.
