Ok, this song gets one or two extra votes because of the singer’s name – could it be any more 1970’s America than Randy Vanwarmer?

I don’t know why I like this song so much but it is just a great song. Really sad and the poor bloke is really suffering and wow, the song really captures his emotions, doesn’t it. Probably not the best song to listen to if you are feeling a bit down,
particularly if you find yourself in a similar situation as Randy but … what a great heartfelt song.

And if you prefer a country twist, look out for a version of the song by Dolly Parton, featuring backing vocals from Alison Krauss.
