Like yesterday’s number 30 song, St Elmo’s Fire, this is one of those songs that just takes you straight back to the mid-1980’s. The singer and co-writer of Missing You, John Waite, was successful with his band The Babys, reaching the Australian Top 40 twice – Isn’t It Time (1978) and Every Time I Think Of You (1979), the latter title also being the first six words of Missing You.
As this song was released by Waite five years after the most recent Babys hit, I am comfortable that this is stand alone enough for Waite to be considered a separate solo artist and, therefore, a one-hit wonder.
