It’s always been there, hasn’t it? I cannot remember a time when Sweet Caroline wasn’t around – clearly there was such a time but it seems to have disappeared from memory.
The ultimate sing-along song – even more than Come On Eileen and Delilah. When you hear those first few notes, you can’t help yourself, can you? You’re there and you are singing along, even the “la la la” bits in between lines.
Don’t be embarrassed. Go with it. Everyone else does. It’s just a great song that seemingly, never grows old.
And a nice bonus – when you grow up in the 1960’s and Neil is seen to be a bit of an old-fashioned name, Mr Diamond and Mr Armstrong both came along big time in 1969 and made it temporarily trendy to be a “Neil”. The Young Ones killed that off many years later!
