Bet you didn’t expect to see an instrumental in this countdown, especially this high up. Every music program I present on radio finishes with some or all of this tune. Nobody knows what it is when I tell them what I play but as soon as they hear it, they say “Ah, I know this … what a great piece of music”. Written to play over the closing titles of a reasonably forgettable movie called Local Hero, this piece of music doesn’t need lyrics – it stands alone by itself. A brilliant performance by a brilliant musician and songwriter.
