This is actually an unusual choice, particularly so high in the countdown. It is a very sad song (originally entitled Le Moribond – “The Dying Man”) but just one that reminds of the first weeks of high school (it entered the charts six weeks after I started year 7). It celebrates friendship and the memories of younger days through the eyes of a dying man.

If you listen to the lyrics, you’ll probably think that I have chosen a really morbid song but instead, this is one of those “by association” links. I hear this song and immediately, I can see myself walking through C block at Donvale High taking in the new experiences of a new level of education.

It’s funny how music does that to you, even when the lyrics suggest otherwise.
