This song by Australian so-called “supergroup” Axiom was another example of that strange juxtaposition of an Australian band (California My Way by The Iguana, Minnie The Moocherby The Cherokees, etc) performing a song with an American storyline.
Featuring Glenn Shorrock and Brian Cadd, formerly of the Twilights and The Groop, the song was always going to receive commercial attention. Keeping aside the Aussie / US thing, it was a good song with a catchy tune and is now considered a classic of its time.
Plus, we all learned that it was pronounced “ar-ken-saw” and “ar-kan-sas”!
