About Turn Up Your Radio … and Neil
The first episode of Turn Up Your Radio went to air at midday on 4 November 2017 on 94.7 The Pulse in Geelong.
Presenter Neil Butler (that’s him on the right) presented Radio Ga Ga on 3WBC in Melbourne for 10 years but having relocated to Geelong in 2015, decided to pick the program up, rename it and present it from his local community radio station. Both programs provide Neil with an opportunity to indulge in his great passion for music from the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s, with a specific interest in the Australian music industry. He was also part of 3WBC’s football commentary team for over 140 games between 2011 and 2018 and was fortunate enough to call the 2013 & 2018 VFL Grand Finals and 2018 VFLW Grand Final which saw the Box Hill Hawks (VFL) and Hawthorn (VFLW) win three premierships – ironically two of the premierships saw the Hawks defeat Geelong.
Neil is a business owner and consultant with over 30 years of practical experience in Project Management and Delivery, Change Management, Business Process Improvement, Customer Service, Training and Education, Sales and Marketing, Account Management, Business Analysis and Information Technology. This experience has been gained in major global organisations including BP, Shell, Toyota and National Australia Bank, as well as in a number of other enterprises. He is a qualified school teacher and has lived in or near Melbourne, Australia all his life, except for a nine-month stint in Sydney in 2016. He has been fortunate enough to have travelled and worked in nineteen countries across four continents. He has also visited some amazing places in Australia from Geraldton in the West to Byron Bay in the East and from Port Douglas in the North to Huonville in the South.
He is the father of two talented adults. His daughter, Lucy, has completed her under-graduate studies in early childhood development and education and teaches in regional Victoria. His son, Sam, has recently completed his under-graduate studies and has been accepted for further studies – a Masters of Property. He has recently commenced a role as Research Analyst with a global commercial real estate firm.
Apart from all of that, Neil loves watching Australian Rules football (particularly games involving the Brisbane Lions) and cricket, discovering the best coffee in town and also enjoys drinking excellent Australian red wine.
