Jim and me at 3WBC

Jim Keays was one of Australia’s most successful front men, being the lead singer for the mighty Masters Apprentices in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s, with hits like Because I Love You and Turn Up Your Radio. After the Masters broke up, Jim also recorded a concept album called “Boy From The Stars”. Apart from the occasional Masters reunion, Jim worked as a music journalist, DJ and penned the lyrics for the club songs for the Brisbane Lions football club and Melbourne Victory soccer team.

In 2000, Jim replaced Ronnie Burns in the successful Burns, Cotton and Morris ensemble, creating Cotton, Keays and Morris, enjoying great success playing in pubs and clubs across the country.

UPDATE: We are sad to let you know that Jim Keays passed away on 13 June 2014 after a seven year battle with cancer. Vale Jim Keays.
