John Paul Young

John Paul Young appeared in the Australian charts as “John Young” in 1972 with his single Pasadena. After a two and a half year stint in Jesus Christ Superstar, Young – now endowed with a middle name to avoid confusion with Johnny Young – returned to the charts with “Yesterday’s Hero”. A Countdown favourite, John had a string of hits throughout the 1970’s and came back to prominence with inclusion of “Love Is In The Air” in the movie Strictly Ballroom.

An interesting piece of trivia is the JPY’s middle name is NOT Paul – it is, in fact, Inglis.
